Critical thinking is a form of thinking that is disciplined, clear, rational, open-minded, and informed by evidence. It is the mental process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information to reach an answer or conclusion. In this era, where there is simply so much information available online, it’s more important than ever to develop critical thinking skills early in life.
You can expect a mathematical equation to have a predictable outcome, and precise steps must be followed in order to attain that result.
The discipline of mind that children develop in math class can carry over into everyday life.
We were very pleased with the individual attention she received from a variety of tutors.
She was eager to go every day and felt she had benefited from the tutoring she received. I love that you all are flexible to assist him with what the school is teaching while helping him to master the skills where he is behind.
Before my son started going to Mathnasium he would always get frustrated while doing homework and shut down. When he is there and he become frustrated the instructor in so quick to assist before the shut down moment occurs.
As far as my daughter it was taking her several attempts to pass math but now she is making A's on test/quizzes. We’ve been with Mathnasium Wilmington since they opened in 2106. We are so appreciative of Cindy and her entire staff! The team at Mathnasium has given our daughter confidence when she is in her math classes at school. The instructors broke the steps down and she was able to understand. Cindy assembles a great staff who guide students in all facets of the math journey. My daughter loves Math bc they make it enjoyable and always greet her with a positive outlook and amazing encourage and confidence in her ability! She has become at ease and comfortable when she studies math, because of Mathnasium!!Over the past 4 years, we have convinced 11 families to join and they are thrilled as well! Mathnasium is a great supplement for my daughter who does well in Math but may come across some things in her Honors Math 3 class where she would like some additional instruction to make sure she has it. The drop- in hours for high schoolers makes it easy! My daughter met with a tutor to get prepared for a Statistics final. She enjoyed going , loved the instructors and said it was really helping her to understand what she hadn't before. The focus on learning patterns and tactics for problem solving versus rote memorization has worked wonders for her ability to 'get' math.We are grateful for the help and a great experience! My so wasn't too thrilled when we first told him that he would be going to do "math work" during the summer. My grandson attends and sometimes objects to going but always comes out smiling and feeling good about himself. After his first session, he fell in love with it and is excited after camp when we tell him he is going to mathnasium for a session. We are excited for our younger son to be able to start (he's 4). I am amazed at the skills my granddaughter has developed in a short time. Cindy and her staff are AWESOME, AMAZING people who are making a difference in the life of children. The cost is high for most families but the results are out of this world. I have observed the staff working with him and find that they are patient and kind with the learning process. Everyone is so friendly and knows my daughter by name now which makes her feel completely at ease! Not only has Mathnasium improved her math skills greatly but they have helped her self confidence. Education is the most important gift we can give to our children to build their future. It concluded that although faculty may aspire to develop student’s thinking skills, in practice, they have tended to aim at facts and concepts utilizing the lowest levels of cognition, rather than developing intellect, values, and thinking skills. One only has to review their Facebook timeline, Twitter feed, or many online forums to find evidence of lack of critical thinking: links to the secret files for alien cover ups; viral images that were conceived in Photoshop; misinformation/disinformation in videos, and medical “breakthroughs” promoted by quacks abound. We’ve used Mathnasium when he was much younger and enjoyed the services so much it’s what made us return - but this location seems a step Ahead of others thanks to the leadership of the owner, and thoughtful team members. We have been with Mathnasium for several years and I am still happy and satisfied with my son's math grades.
