It is equivalent to a GCSE qualification but differs in that it is primarily assessed via coursework that you will add to during each lesson.
Core PE lessons are entirely practical – pupils are assessed on their performance in each activity following the GCSE PE guidelines and criteria.
Our aim is to help students develop their physical, mental and social skills within the activities they take part in, while creating a range of experiences to help them foster healthy attitudes and behaviours towards physical activity for life.They will also consider the necessity of certain nutrients in particular quantities and the effects of a poor diet.They will reflect upon the role that diet plays in different sports and activities, and use the knowledge gained to produce an appropriate, effective diet plan for a performer.GCSE PE pupils have an additional four or five lessons of PE per fortnight on top of their core lessons.The course takes place over three years and consists of practical and theoretical components in the following format: Pupils are assessed in a range of activities across the three years of KS4.You will understand key aspects of the structure and function of the musculo-skeletal and cardio-respiratory systems and investigate some of the changes which occur to them in response to short and long-term physical activity.You will consider the composition of a healthy, balanced diet.We can do ALL of the other components of the exam but you would need to take video of your child in a race setting and photograph the race results on an open "friendly" weekly race such as what the After your half hour warm up you then meet your coach in the changing area and have a 90 minute session when we will take extensive video footage to prepare a downloadable video of the student's skiing, which is accompanied by a written report which assesses the student against the criteria set by the awarding body for the GCSE.The session with your coach will begin with a discussion of what skiing you have done and areas you think you are good at or bad at.Candidates will also gain invaluable knowledge and understanding that will enable them to lead a healthy life.
